Laguna’s coves are small and usually reached by stairs. Oceanside and Carlsbad have long, wide beaches that are easier with kids.

Dana Point and San Clemente Beach Rentals
Dana Point has Doheny State Beach, and Capistrano Beach has homes on the sand. Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach and The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel are bluff-top hotels.
San Clemente has the Beach Trail, the pier and breaks like T-Street and Trestles. Rentals near the pier are cheaper than Laguna.
Oceanside Beachfront Rentals
Oceanside is the best value, with rentals along The Strand near the pier, one of the longest wooden piers on the West Coast.
