Planning a Trip to Nevada
Past the Strip, Nevada is the emptiest driving in the West. Red Rock and Valley of Fire sit an hour from Las Vegas, and the Tahoe side of the state is all pine and granite.
What to Do in Nevada
Drive Valley of Fire from end to end
An hour from Vegas. Fire Wave and the White Domes loop.
Loop the Red Rock scenic drive
Thirteen one-way miles, twenty minutes from the Strip.
Take Highway 50 across the middle
The loneliest road. Fill the tank in every town you pass.
Do the Tahoe east shore from the Nevada side
Sand Harbor, Bonsai Rock, and the clearest water on the lake.
