Planning a Trip to Los Angeles
Give it more days than you think. The Getty, the canyons, and the beach towns are each their own trip, and the drive between them is half the experience.
What to Do in Los Angeles
Reserve the Getty parking, not the ticket
Admission is free; parking is the thing that sells out.
Hike to the Griffith Observatory at dusk
Park at Fern Dell and walk up rather than fight for the lot.
Drive Mulholland between the canyons
Cut over from Laurel Canyon. Overlooks on both sides.
Give Malibu a whole morning
El Matador at low tide, then Point Dume. Check the chart.
