Planning a Trip to Washington
Rainier, the Olympic Peninsula, and the North Cascades sit within a few hours of Seattle in three different directions, and each one feels like a separate country.
What to Do in Washington
Reach Paradise at Rainier before nine
Timed entry in summer, and the lot fills anyway.
Walk the Hall of Mosses in the Hoh
Under a mile through the densest rainforest in the lower 48.
Catch sunrise at Ruby Beach
Sea stacks and driftwood right off the 101. Go at low tide.
Drive Highway 20 through the North Cascades
Diablo Lake overlook is the stop. The pass shuts with the snow.
