Why this site exists

I’m Alex Khachigian, and I post California trips on Facebook and Instagram as @alexkhachigian. The same questions kept landing in my DMs: where did you stay, how long was that drive, is it worth the detour. This site is the long answer.

Every guide is a route, a stay or a trail I’ve pinned for myself, written up the way I’d explain it to a friend planning the same trip.

How the picks get made

I start from places I’ve been and posted, then fill in the practical parts: drive times, seasons, closures, and what to book ahead. Big Sur is still my favorite stretch of the state, and it shows.

How the site is funded

Some links go to booking sites like Airbnb, Booking.com, Expedia, Vrbo and GetYourGuide. If you book through them I may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. That pays for the site and keeps the guides free.
