The Lake Tahoe loop is about 72 miles, 3.5 hours from San Francisco and 50 minutes from Reno.

The loop on Highways 89, 28 and 50 takes 3 hours without stops.

South Lake Tahoe Stops

Monkey Rock is 2.6 miles and 1.5 hours round trip.
Secret Cove, Bonsai Rock and Cave Rock
The Chimney Beach trailhead leads to Secret Cove, a clothing-optional beach. Bonsai Rock is a sunrise photo spot.

South Lake Tahoe suits groups and first-timers.
North Lake Tahoe is quieter.
